Strawberry Channel is a great place to go if the wind is up and you don't want to go into the main part of Richardson Bay. The outer, South part of the Channel, from Strawberry Point to marker "14" is usually protected as long as the wind isn't coming directly from the North. The inner part of the Channel, from marker "14" to the Condominiums, is always protected (but you have to be able to get there).
If the tide level is +2 feet or higher, and the Bird Sanctuary is open (April to October) you can row out the top end, past the Condominiums, and back into Richardson Bay. If it is lower you need to be careful, and below 0 you won't make it. But of course you can just row back the way you came.
