November 12 -- Head Race: Newport Autumn Rowing Festival (Newport Beach, CA) David Lay from OWRC wins First Place in the Men's Master Single. He was in his Maas 24 while the others were in "flat water boats".

November 11 -- Head of the Marina (Marina del Rey, CA) David Lay from OWRC wins here (Mst Open Water, Bow #40) while warming up for the Newport race.

November 10, 11, 12, 13 -- Ric Ricci will be offering private sculling lessons at OWRC, the time slots are 7:30 to 9, 9:30 to 11 and 11:30 to 1.  The cost is $135 per lesson.  Ric will also give a free talk open to all on the evening of Thursday, November 9 at OWRC.  Sign up for lessons at the office or by phone.  Ric is head men’s coach at Connecticut College and is still a competitive master’s rower himself.  Ric is also an associate director at Craftsbury Sculling Center.  Rick is constantly examining and refining his coaching technique.  If you are at the point in your rowing where you want to think about and work on technique, here is a real opportunity.

October 1 (Sunday) -- Rowers take care; the Annual swim accross Raccoon Strait; starts at Ayala Cove at 0900 and ends at Corinthian Yacht Club beach. There are expected to be more than 700 swimmers in this race. See rcptiburonmile.com for more information.

June 11 -- Chris Dadd, one of our instructors, is also a coach for the Berkeley High School rowers. His Men's LtWt four team won the Gold at the US Rowing National Youth Championships in Cincinati.

June 4 -- Cora Stewart rows the Vogalona in Venice, Italy.

April 9, Sunday -- Open Ocean Regatta at Sausalito - the 30th Anniversary of the Race on the Bay!

March 26 -- Petersen/Coyote Point Regatta. Course goes around Alcatraz, starting and ending at the South End Rowing Club. There is a small breakfast donation and 8:00 am is the start time. More info from Diane Davis, 415-661-7676.
